A liefdelok (lovelock) is a lock of curly hair, seen in
some of Rembrandt's self-portraits. The style originated when medieval
knights would painstakingly arrange seemingly unshorn curls; announcing a deep
devotion to their beloved. This French word "cadenette"
was also used in conjunction with this controversial hairstyle, as it's a word
that describes how someone takes an enormous amount of time and patience to
look casual.
